When Doctors Become Family

I’m having a hard time finding the right words to express all the emotions I feel about this chapter of our story ending. However, I know that this man (Dr. Ruiz) will forever be a part of our amazing fight. Dr. Ruiz gave us hope on our hardest day. He watched two completely shattered new parents face their worst nightmare head-on. He picked us up and pushed us forward with so much hope and knowledge. He has dedicated his life to pulmonary medicine which in turn allowed our paths to cross and for that we are grateful. When I think back to the days when the diagnosis was so fresh, so scary, so overwhelming - he was there. When I think back to sitting in a cold room for five hours holding our four-pound miracles while learning the ins and outs of this disease, I remember Dr. Ruiz meeting us with so much patience and grace. He always took the time to allow us to talk through all of our fears and reminded us that our boys are widely capable of a long life well-lived. We are forever changed because of so many people who have a role in our journey like Dr. Ruiz. We look forward to sharing in many celebrations because of this man.

It's often said when one door closes another one opens, but in this case, the door is being left cracked because he knows we will still be popping in with all of our questions!😜

Side note //

We are excited to see what God has in store for us in Birmingham as we begin care with the Dr. who taught Dr. Ruiz a lot of what he knows! #godwink🦋🦋
